Goodwin Adds NY IP Attys (Law360)

Goodwin announced Monday that it was expanding its intellectual property practice in New York with two scientifically talented lawyers. Theodoros Konstantakopoulos, who has extensive experience in matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Carl Morales, an expert in developing and prosecuting complex patent portfolios for small-molecule drug products. Morales will also be part of Goodwin's life sciences group, which includes more than 230 attorneys throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia, according to the firm. He will lend his expertise in managing strategies for second- and third-generation patent coverage that extends pharmaceutical product exclusivity and conducting general due diligence on life science patent portfolios. Konstantakopoulos brings his own experience in science-heavy matters as well. He represented the biotechnology company Ravgen, for instance, in patent disputes with clinical lab provider chain Labcorp and fellow biotechnology company Streck Inc.
