Global law firm Goodwin announced today that Oded Schein will join the firm’s Tax practice as a partner, adding further depth to Goodwin’s transactional capabilities in Germany.
Schein, who will be resident in Munich on a remote basis, brings more than 15 years of experience in German and international tax planning and regularly provides tax-related advice in the context of cross-border private equity transactions to some of the largest and most prominent sponsors on the market. He also focuses on the structuring of investment vehicles for commercial and private investors, advises on restructurings, and has played an essential role in the development of complex solutions for corporate reorganizations.
Schein has been recognized as one of Europe’s leading lawyers for tax in Germany every year since 2012 by Chambers Europe.
“Oded is the latest senior addition to our German bench and we are delighted he will be joining us,” said Stephan Kock, chair of Goodwin’s Frankfurt office. “Adding his significant technical capabilities and experience to our fast-growing transactional offering will further assist our clients in achieving their goals across the disruptive industries they operate in.”
“Oded is widely recognized as one of the leading tax partners in Germany, particularly with regard to his work helping private equity clients execute domestic and international M&A deals,” said a partner in Goodwin’s Private Equity practice. “Our strong firm culture of entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration will provide him with a great platform as we continue to add top level talent to our private equity team across Germany.”
Schein will work closely with the existing private equity and tax team, as well as new private equity additions partner Jan Schinköth and counsel Sebastian Walczak when he joins the firm. Other notable hires in Germany this year include corporate real estate partner Markus Kapplinger and private investment funds and Sebastian Bruchwitz, while the European tax practice also added partners Dulcie Daly and David Irvine, both of whom have extensive experience advising private equity clients.
Since launching in 2016, Goodwin’s German platform has grown to more than 30 lawyers serving a broad array of European investors, lenders, and innovators across the real estate, private equity, technology, and financial services industries.
Goodwin was named the number one legal advisor for global private equity and venture capital rounds in Q1 2021 by Refinitiv.
