Synthesia Secures $180M in Series D Funding

A cross-border UK and US Technology team advised NEA (New Enterprise Associates) and WiL (World Innovation Lab) on their respective investments in Synthesia’s $180 million Series D financing. Other participants in the round included Atlassian Ventures, and PSP Growth, plus previous backers GV and MMC Ventures.

The latest funding brings Synthesia’s total capital raised to over $330 million, valuing the company at $2.1 billion and cementing its position as a pioneer in generative AI for enterprise video communications.

Synthesia is the world’s leading enterprise AI video communications platform. Over 1 million users across 60,000 businesses, including more than 60% of the Fortune 100, use it to communicate efficiently and share knowledge at scale using AI avatars. Founded in 2017, Synthesia is headquartered in London and makes video creation, collaboration and sharing easy for everyone.

NEA is a prominent venture capital firm with more than $25 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024 and invests in technology and healthcare companies at all stages in a company's lifecycle, from seed stage through IPO.

WiL is US- and Japan-based VC investing in growth-stage companies that aspire to scale and enter new markets. WiL makes direct investments in growth and late-stage companies across sectors spanning B2B SaaS, fintech, insurtech, automation and productivity, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, health tech and sustainability.

The UK NEA deal team consisted of Andrew Davis, Elizabeth Rhodes, Lucy Thomas, Ciara Kendall, Hattie Muncey and Folakemi Dele-Adeniyi.

The US WiL deal team consisted of John Casnocha, Matthew Pelnar, and Mira Pranav.
