Global 50 law firm Goodwin announced today that Jon Novotny has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as a partner in its Technology Companies practice.
“Goodwin is firmly rooted at the intersection of the new economy and the full range of capital sources, be it venture, growth or private equity,” said Cook. “Jon and I are excited to join this unique platform, which we believe is ideally suited for the needs of our emerging company and investor clients.”
“Jon is among some of the most well-known and respected lawyers in the emerging companies space,” said Anthony McCusker, Co-Chair of Goodwin’s Technology Companies practice. “We are thrilled that he has chosen to join the Goodwin platform, which has grown to become the destination practice for the technology industry in Northern California and beyond. With him onboard, we are adding even more scale and even more depth to our practice for the benefit of both our company and investor client base.”
“Goodwin supports emerging company and investor clients with a special combination of legal experience and business savvy. We look forward to joining the team and leveraging Goodwin's dynamic platform for the benefit of our clients,” said Novotny.
Novotny advises emerging growth companies and venture capital firms on general corporate counseling, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. His general corporate counseling includes assistance with formation issues, prospective investor introductions, employment matters, equity incentives, securities law compliance, and corporate governance matters.
Novotny received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, and his B.S. in Computer Science and B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Tulsa. He is admitted to practice in California.
This news follows the recent addition to Goodwin’s Northern California offices of partners Darryl M. Woo, a veteran trial lawyer for the technology industry, and David Johanson, a preeminent private equity lawyer in the technology sector. The firm also recently relocated its growing Silicon Valley office to downtown Redwood City.
Goodwin’s Technology Companies practice is one of the largest and most recognized technology practices in the United States. Consistently rated in the top five most active of all law firms for venture capital, IPOs and M&A, the practice draws on its deep experience and network of clients and investors to provide the most effective and efficient counsel for today’s emerging companies.
