David Scott

David Scott is an associate in Goodwin’s Business Law department and a member of the firm’s Strategic Technology Transactions practice. David advises clients on a broad range of intellectual property, technology and commercial matters, including: the acquisition, management, licensing and commercialization of intellectual property; partnering transactions; commercial and research and development relationships; and intellectual property support for mergers and acquisitions, spinouts, venture capital and private equity transactions, and public offerings.

Prior to joining Goodwin, he was an associate at a transatlantic law firm where he focused on technology transactions for emerging and middle market B2B technology companies.

David’s expertise spans a broad array of industries, including SaaS and cloud computing, computer software and hardware, artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies, retail apparel, advertising, e-commerce, and entertainment. Prior to entering the practice of law, David was the Chief Product Officer at a Washington, D.C. based technology company overseeing the development, operations and commercialization of a security clearance management platform used by many of the nation’s largest defense contractors.  David brings a wealth of experience around the establishment of early stage technology companies and the development, delivery and performance of integrated enterprise software.  David draws on this experience to provide his clients with informed and pragmatic legal counsel.
