Robert J. Powers is a partner in the firm’s Business Law Department and a member of its Private Equity group.
Mr. Powers’ practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, with an emphasis on representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies. He also represents public and private companies and their sponsors on transactions and other general corporate matters in a broad range of industries, including technology, software, healthcare, energy, consumer products, food and beverage, life sciences and financial services.
Mr. Powers is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania only. His practice is supervised by D.C.-admitted lawyers at Goodwin.
Experience
Some of Mr. Powers’ recent representative matters include:
- Represented a food and consumer products delivery company in multiple cross-border transactions resulting in the company’s expansion into the European market.*
- Represented a private equity fund in its platform acquisition of a company in the business of manufacturing electronic components.*
- Represented a private equity-backed portfolio company in over a dozen add-on acquisitions, helping to grow the business until a successful exit transaction valued at over $3 billion.*
- Represented an insurance company in a carve-out transaction in which it divested its medical benefits division.*
- Represented a gasoline and petroleum refining company in its acquisition of a large chain of gas stations.*
- Represented a founder of a technology company through multiple fund raising rounds and the ultimate sale of the company to a private equity fund.*
