PERE Global Awards Name Goodwin Law Firm of the Year for Real Estate Fund Formation in Europe

The PERE Global Awards have named Goodwin the 2024 Law Firm of the Year for Real Estate Fund Formation in Europe. For nearly 20 years, the PERE Global Awards have recognized the premiere firms, funds, and deals across the private real estate industry.

Goodwin represents over 1,000 investment managers worldwide, and a majority of the PERE 100 - the largest capital raisers in the private real estate industry - in fund formation and transactions. Drawing on Goodwin’s deep experience in real estate and private investment funds, the firm’s lawyers partner with fund sponsors and seasoned professionals to form new firms to raise their first fund, public REITs, insurance companies, investment banks, hedge funds, and managers expanding their funds to include real estate as an investment focus.

The firm’s global Real Estate practice takes a practical approach based on deep market insights to help private and public clients make the most of every investment decision. The Goodwin team offers the full spectrum of real estate specialties, enabling the firm to represent clients through the full lifecycle of their real estate investments. From private fund formation and financings to REITs and M&A, Goodwin specializes in structuring, raising, and deploying capital.

The firm’s European Real Estate Investment Funds practice is central to this global platform, with more than 50 years of experience working with leading managers across multiple industries. The Goodwin team is one of the largest specialist fund formation practices in Europe, with dedicated experts in London, Paris, Luxembourg and Frankfurt.

Goodwin was recognized for having completed several of Europe’s biggest real estate fundraises in 2024. In October, the firm advised Ares Management on the closing of its sixth Europe-focused opportunity fund, Ares European Real Estate Fund VI, which raised €2.24 billion, and is considered the largest real estate fund to have closed in 2024 focused exclusively on Europe.

In June, Goodwin advised Patron Capital on the closing of its seventh flagship fund, Patron Capital, L.P. VII, raising in excess of €860 million, including more than €200 million of Patron discretionary co-investment capital for larger opportunities. The fund targets distressed and undervalued investments, directly or indirectly related to property, across Western Europe. The firm also advised BGO on the fundraising and final close of its Europe IV Value Add Strategy, the fourth in the series of value-add and opportunistic investments focused on Europe. The fund raised €1.98 billion in aggregate capital, including €1.46 billion for the fund and €520 million in co-investment capital.

In addition to this honor, Goodwin’s Real Estate Investments Funds practice and lawyers are routinely recognized for excellence by leading market commentators, including Chambers UK, Chambers Europe, IFLR1000, and The Legal 500 UK.
