Several Goodwin lawyers and practices were honored at the LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards 2022, which took place on September 8 in New York City. Now in its tenth year, the LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards recognize the top-ranking lawyers, firms and in-house counsel teams in the United States and Canada who have had a significant impact on the life sciences industry over the past year.
Goodwin was named the FDA Litigation & Enforcement Firm of the Year for 2022. The firm’s FDA Litigation practice works with life sciences companies on pre-litigation strategy before the FDA and leads subsequent litigation efforts. Co-Chaired by partners Brian Burgess, the team combines deep subject-matter knowledge with general experience litigating challenges under the Administrative Procedure Act.
Elaine Blais was named the General Patent Litigator of the Year – New England. Blais is the Head of the Litigation Department in Boston and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Stuart Cable received the Venture Capital Attorney of the Year Award. Cable is Goodwin’s Vice Chairman and Global Chair of M&A.
Julie Tibbets received the Regulatory Attorney of the Year: FDA Pharmaceutical Award. Tibbets Chairs Goodwin’s FDA practice and is a Co-Chair of the Late-Stage Drug Development practice at the firm.
Goodwin also received the Impact Deal of the Year Award for the firm’s work on Intellia Therapeutics $690 million underwritten public offering, which came on the heels of the company releasing the first-ever clinical data supporting safety and efficacy of in vivo CRISPR genome editing in humans. The Goodwin team advising Intellia included Gabriela Morales-Rivera, Daniel Hughes, Pablo Hernandez-Romero, Janet Andolina, Alexander Varond, and Maggie Wong.
