The National Bar Association has named Goodwin partner Jesse Nevarez to its 40 Under 40 list for 2021. The awards recognize the nation’s top lawyers under the age of 40 who exemplify a broad range of high achievement in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership and overall legal and community involvement. The recipients will be honored during the National Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 Awards Gala on July 24.
Mr. Nevarez represents technology and life sciences companies focused on software, hardware, digital media, advertising, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics and other related specialties. In particular, he regularly advises entrepreneurs, startups, emerging companies and public companies on a variety of matters including company formations, seed, venture and growth equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, SEC compliance, IPOs, and other capital markets transactions. He also represents venture capital funds and investment banks focusing on technology and life sciences companies.
Within Goodwin, Mr. Nevarez is a leader on the New York Council of Goodwin’s Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity (CRED), which seeks to recruit, retain and advance lawyers from underrepresented backgrounds at the firm. He is also a member of Goodwin’s recently launched Black Anti-Racism Task Force, and serves as the DEI co-chair for Goodwin’s Technology Business Unit. Mr. Nevarez has previously been recognized as a 2020 Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) Rising Star.
