Bethany P. Withers

Bethany Withers is a partner in Goodwin’s Strategic Technology Transactions and Licensing practice and a member of the firm’s Technology group. Beth concentrates on technology, data, publicity rights and intellectual property matters, including technology and data transfers and licensing; collaboration, strategic alliance and joint development agreements; celebrity endorsement and influencer agreements and related social media and marketing programs; compliance with sweepstakes and promotion laws; and due diligence and other intellectual property issues in mergers, acquisitions and venture capital and private equity transactions.

Beth works with a broad base of start-up, venture-back, and growth companies in a variety of sectors, including consumer and enterprise software; cosmetics and fashion; media and entertainment; fintech; medtech; digital health and wellness. She also represents individual celebrities and influencers in connection with endorsement and licensing deals. She joined Goodwin in 2011 and is a member of the Boston Hiring Committee.

Beth serves as an advisor at the Harvard iLab, advising student startups on intellectual property and licensing-related matters.

Beth was identified as “One to Watch” in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and a recommended lawyer for Patents: licensing by the Legal 500 US (2021, 2024). She was also named a recommend lawyer by the legal 500 US for Technology Transactions (2024).
