Goodwin has once again been recognized by National Law Journal’s Appellate Hot List. The annual award honors firms who have “tackled novel issues and undoubtedly overcame unprecedented challenges” in order to achieve “high-profile and high-stakes wins.”
Over the past year, Goodwin’s Appellate Litigation practice has been involved with successful appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court, several federal courts of appeals, and state appellate courts. The firm’s appellate lawyers also litigate and win appeals from federal agencies, which can be brought in appeals courts and district courts.
Notable matters during the review period include a landmark U.S. Supreme Court patent victory in Helsinn Healthcare S.A. v. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and a Supreme Court win in Banister v Davis that had national implications for post-conviction review. The Appellate Litigation team also won a significant Second Circuit case for bar exam prep course provider BarBri, Inc., defeated a class action brought against client Citizens Bank for their overdraft fee program, prevailed in a major mining industry case before the D.C. Circuit and obtained a second appellate victory for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
