Richard Torres is counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Industry group. Richard focuses his practice on the establishment and ongoing management of a variety of real estate private investment funds. Richard also advises clients in the sports industry.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Richard was Vice-President of Legal & Business Affairs for Leverage Agency, LLC, a sports marketing agency based in New York City. He also worked at several law firms in New York, where he developed an expertise in sports and entertainment law with a particular focus on combat sports and pay-per-view distribution of live sporting events. In connection with such work, Richard worked on some of the largest pay-per-view boxing matches of the last decade, including boxing matches involving Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Professional Activities
In March 2021, Richard was sworn in to the Board of Trustees of Kean University in Union, NJ. His candidacy was put forward by Kean University President Lamont Repollet and New Jersey State Senator Nicholas Scutari. Governor Murphy formally nominated Richard for the Board of Trustees and the New Jersey State Senate ratified his appointment.
Richard is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and Practicing Attorneys for Law Students, a nonprofit organization that provides mentoring to New York area minority law students.
