Julien is a Counsel in Goodwin’s Luxembourg tax practice. He has experience in all areas of Luxembourg income tax law, with an emphasis on fund industry and corporate tax.

He advises asset managers involved in the private equity, real estate and debt strategies. He assists the asset managers in setting up their Luxembourg regulated / non-regulated platforms including structuring of intermediate holding, financing arrangements, management incentive plans and co-investment programs.

Experience

Julien’s recent experience includes representation of:

  • Assisted a global real estate development group for the launch of a Luxembourg club deal investment platform aiming at investing in energy positive buildings and towers across Europe*
  • Assisted a real estate investment fund with a complex acquisition of a unique large scale mixed-use portfolio of 24 real estate assets located in Italy held by two Italian real estate Investment funds*
  • Assisted a real estate investment advisor in the setting-up of a Luxembourg investment fund whose main objective is to provide limited partners with superior risk-adjusted returns through investments in equity or debt instruments with respect to real estate assets including single assets, portfolios of assets and operating companies*
  • Assisted a global asset manager it in the on-shoring of a Cayman investment fund to Luxembourg under the form of a common limited partnership qualifying as an alternative investment fund and aiming at investing in private equity assets*
  • Assisted a global asset manager for the launch of a Luxembourg investment fund investing in renewable energy infrastructure assets and platform developing assets in Europe*

Professional Activities

Before joining Goodwin, Julien spent thirteen years at Baker McKenzie in Luxembourg where he was counsel during two years, and prior to that was a tax advisor at EY Luxembourg for two years.
