Catie Rutley is an associate in the firm’s Litigation department. She joined Goodwin in 2022.
Experience
Since joining Goodwin in 2022, Catie has represented clients in white collar criminal matters, government investigations, complex civil litigation in federal and state courts, and securities litigation.
Catie's recent work includes representing:
- Two senior-level FTX employees in connection with the high-profile investigation and subsequent prosecutions conducted by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission
- A publicly-traded pharmaceutical company in connection with an SEC investigation in which the SEC issued termination notices and declined to pursue enforcement action
- A top university in an employment discrimination and retaliation action alleging violations of Title VII, Title IX, and other federal and state laws
- A prominent national auto insurer in defense of a putative class action brought by a policyholder
- A SaaS company and its executive officers in securities fraud class action lawsuit
- Numerous clients in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority investigations concerning potential insider trading by company employees
- A pro bono client charged with first degree murder by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Additionally, Catie is a contributor to Goodwin's Securities Snapshot, a bi-weekly newsletter highlighting important news and developments in civil and criminal securities law.
Professional Experience
During law school, Catie served as a judicial intern on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Catie also served as an Articles Editor for the Boston University Law Review, as a student attorney for the BU/MIT Technology Law Clinic, and as an Appellate Advocacy Director for the Boston University moot court competition.
Prior to law school, Catie served as a Chief of Staff and Legislative Director in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
