Rahul P. Patel, PhD is a science advisor in Goodwin’s Business Law department and practices in their life sciences area. He joined Goodwin in 2023.
Experience
Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate education in Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Rutgers University. During his undergraduate studies he accumulated experience in multiple research areas within basic and translational neuroscience, medical devices, and medical sociology. His primary research focused on the molecular characterization of cytoskeletal proteins under conditions of physiological stress and he developed these findings into drug discovery assays that were validated in collaboration with leading pharmaceutical companies. In addition, his clinical research focus was centered around the generation of non-linear computational models to predict elective-battery replacement of Deep Brain Stimulation patient devices. During this time, Dr. Patel was also involved in technology commercialization and science policy efforts.
Dr. Patel completed his PhD in Neuroscience at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research integrated engineering (device design, solid mechanics, optics, and electronics), computer science (machine-learning and data science), and biology (animal behavior, pharmacology, omics, and systems genetics) for the study of facial expressions associated with pain in rodents.
