Allyson McCain is an associate in Goodwin’s Litigation Department. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. McCain worked for the firm as a legal secretary.

Experience

In law school, Ms. McCain worked as an extern for the LGBTQ+ Asylum Clinic in San Francisco, and as a volunteer law clerk with the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund. Ms. McCain also served as the Managing Editor for the Golden Gate University Law Review.

Prior to joining Goodwin, Ms. McCain worked as a Legal Support Supervisor at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, and previously worked in the same position at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Ms. McCain has worked in support positions in several legal fields, including criminal and civil litigation, administrative law, and bankruptcy.

Publications

In June 2020, Ms. McCain published an article with the Golden Gate University Law Review titled “Perez v. City of Roseville: Constitutional Protections for Public Employees in Matters Pertaining to Sex.” Ms. McCain gave a presentation of this article in January 2020 at the Chief Justice Ronald M. George Distinguished Lecture Series at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Courthouse, sponsored by Golden Gate University School of Law.
