Vanessa Gomez is a Real Estate Associate in the Business Law department of Goodwin, where her practice focuses on acquisitions, dispositions, financings and joint venture partnerships for institutional investors, owners and developers.  

Vanessa was a student legal honors extern for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2017, and employed at various financial institutions in New York and California before receiving her law degree from UC Irvine School of Law. Vanessa is dedicated to pro bono work and her representation has included affordable housing developers, asylum seekers, state benefit recipients, DACA recipients, and adoptive parents. While in law school, Vanessa advocated on behalf of domestic violence survivors in California by testifying before the California State Assembly on a bill to amend notice requirements for domestic violence ex parte orders; the bill was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. In recognition of her commitment to public service, Vanessa received Pro Bono High Honors in law school and was awarded the State Bar of California Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services, the Law Legacy Award, and the Community Bridge Builder Award. Vanessa completed her undergraduate work at Princeton University and is in the process of completing a Certificate in Real Estate Investment from Harvard University’s Extension Program.

In addition to pro bono work on behalf of a number of community organizations, Vanessa currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Latina Lawyers Bar Association and for the California Women’s Law Center. Vanessa is also an active member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Mexican American Bar Foundation, through which she was named the 2017 Comcast/NBCUniversal/Telemundo Entertainment Law Scholar. In an effort to increase the representation and mentorship of Latinas in the legal profession, Vanessa founded the Lawtinas in Big Law community.
