Carrie Gilman is the Director of Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Client Development & Engagement. In this role, Carrie designs and implements organizational change initiatives that drive the firm’s DEI strategy to create an inclusive and equitable workplace for all.
Carrie’s leadership is integral to supporting and expanding the firm’s client development efforts through client DEI partnerships to ensure that lawyers at all levels have access to career-enhancing work and leadership opportunities. Additionally, Carrie is responsible for creating a consistent talent management infrastructure within the firm’s business units and practice areas to ensure inclusive practices sit at the core of that strategy. This includes developing and executing programs designed to attract, retain, develop, and advance a diverse talent pool, foster inclusive leadership, and eliminate hidden barriers to success.
During her time on Goodwin’s DEI team, Carrie helped the firm launch an inclusion survey, name pronunciation tool, and framework for DEI billable credit as part of the firm’s Culture & Innovation time initiative; and established a consulting model for partnership with Goodwin’s Business Units for which she developed a data informed approach to inclusive talent management practices.
Carrie is an active member of ALFDP, NALP, and PDC.
Carrie joined Goodwin in 2014 and has nearly 20 years of legal industry expertise, with more than a decade as a DEI professional. Carrie is a results-driven leader, skilled in cultural change management, championing people, coaching, collaboration, innovation, and disruption, promoting excellence, cultivating inclusive leadership, and enhancing engagement.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Carrie worked in various marketing and business development roles, both within and outside of the legal industry, and in the public service sector of the legal profession.
Carrie graduated with a B.A. from The George Washington University and received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
