Ross Gillman, of counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Industry group, represents and advises a wide array of clients on a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions. His practice, which is national in scope, has a particular focus on structuring and implementing portfolio debt and equity transactions involving REITs, institutional investors, opportunity funds, and other publicly traded and privately held companies.
Experience
Mr. Gillman has significant experience representing financial institutions and other institutional clients in lending to, as well as in the acquisition and disposition of, various types of real property, investments through real estate-based partnership transactions and participating debt. Mr. Gillman has been actively involved in the negotiation, restructuring and resolution of troubled real estate transactions, comprising both debt and equity interests. He has also been actively involved in portfolio, joint venture, merger and acquisition, and other strategic transactions, as well as mezzanine loan and preferred equity transactions.

Mr. Gillman has served as co-chair of the Real Estate Investment Trust Committee of the Real Property Section of the American Bar Association. Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Gillman worked at Aldrich, Eastman & Waltch, a real estate investment advisory firm specializing in the investment of pension funds in complex commercial real estate transactions. Prior to law school, he was an associate in strategic long-term planning at Pfizer, Inc.
