Louise de Souza is an associate in Goodwin’s Business Law department and a member of its Real Estate Industry group and Hospitality and Leisure practice. 

Louise’s practice involves advising UK and overseas clients on all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, property management and development. Louise works on deals with direct investment in assets, as well as indirect transactions through SPVs. Louise also has experience advising on a range of cross-jurisdictional matters relating to the hotel sector, including management agreements, mixed-use developments, and branded residence developments. 

Louise is part of the Goodwin Operational Real Estate initiative. She is also part of the London local leadership team for Goodwin’s Committee for Racial and Ethnic Diversity. Louise joined Goodwin in 2018.

Louise’s experience includes advising:

  • Workspace Group PLC
    • on the sale of part of Riverside Business Centre in Wandsworth which comprises the business park and a car park
    • on its acquisition of Busworks, a former Victorian bus factory with a rich history dating back to 1888, for £45 million
    • on the sale of the freehold interest in 13-17 Fitzroy Street, London to DWS for a price of £92 million
  • DWS 
    • on various management matters at 2 Redman Place and 12 Endeavour Square in Stratford.
    • on the acquisition of a £600 million high end student accommodation portfolio, together with ongoing management matters
  • Partners Group on its acquisition of UK high street restaurant chain, Côte Restaurants, by way of a pre-pack administration sale
  • Q-Park, one of Europe's leading parking service providers on a sale and leaseback of a portfolio of 13 assets to a variety of purchasers over a period of 12 months
  • A UK holiday parks owner/operator on the ground rent sale and leaseback of a substantial portfolio of holiday parks
  • A luxury global hotel operator with respect to management agreements for hotels, resorts, branded residential and serviced apartments
  • Kennedy Wilson on various management matters at its flagship property at 111 Buckingham Palace Road, London
  • CBRE Hana, a provider of flexible workspace, on leases involving hybrid lease structures of a property in London
  • A leading global alternative investment manager on the letting arrangements for an aparthotel in Manchester and on the subsequent sale of the property
  • Medical Properties Trust, on the acquisition of a corporate structure which owns a portfolio of 30 acute care hospital facilities, valued at approximately £1.5 billion. The acquisition is considered the UK’s largest real estate transaction of 2019
  • NodThera Limited on real estate arrangements as part of its initial closing of its aggregate $55 million (£44 million) Series B equity financing
