Dr. Davies has experience in conducting patent prosecution in the pharmaceutical field, primarily on small molecule therapeutics. She uses her expertise in organic chemistry and her extensive research experience in medicinal chemistry to help clients secure worldwide strategic protection of intellectual property assets under strict timeline requirements.
Dr. Davies assists clients with drafting patent applications and responding to United States Patent Office substantive actions; collaborates with foreign associates to advance the prosecution of client applications in foreign jurisdictions; performs freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses for client assets; and conducts IP due diligence for financing transactions, IP licensing deals, mergers and acquisitions.
Professional Experience
Dr. Davies has extensive synthetic organic chemistry experience through both her PhD studies and her postdoctoral research at California Institute of Technology, focusing on the synthesis of complex natural products and the discovery of new reaction methodologies.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Dr. Davies spent 13 years as a medicinal chemist at a mid-size Boston pharmaceutical company. She has led drug discovery efforts on two early stage antiviral projects and has worked as a drug discovery scientist on projects in diverse therapeutic areas such as oncology, antibacterials and CNS.
Dr. Davies is an author on nine peer-reviewed scientific papers and 21 granted U.S. patents.
