After completing a 12-month certification program aimed at diversifying leadership, Goodwin has achieved Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Certification for the seventh consecutive year in the US, and has also been certified in the UK. This year, Goodwin opted into Mansfield Certification Plus, a designation reserved for firms that voluntarily provide outcomes to Diversity Lab to show the progress of their efforts to broaden leadership talent pools and increase the visibility of their advancement processes.
We are also proud to announce that Goodwin is reaffirming its commitment to Mansfield Certification in the US and UK for 2024-2025. Since joining Mansfield in 2017, we have been working hard to increase the transparency and accessibility of our advancement processes, and to open the door wider to ensure that all talent at our firm has a transparent, fair, and equitable opportunity to be considered for leadership roles.
Diversity Lab is an incubator for innovative ideas and solutions that boost diversity and inclusion in law. The Mansfield Rule is named after Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to the practice of law in the United States in 1869. Goodwin initially adopted the Mansfield Rule seven years ago to help facilitate a more effective approach to identifying, documenting, and addressing diversity-related gaps in the composition of the firm's partnership and leadership.
A commitment to being diverse, equitable, and inclusive is one of our Core Principles at Goodwin, and we believe that honoring this commitment makes us stronger as a firm, as a provider of legal services, and as an employer. We recognize that equity demands a diverse workforce and legal profession, and achieving the Mansfield Rule has been an important step in our DEI journey.
