Goodwin practices and lawyers received the most wins in firm history at the 2024 LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards, which took place on September 5 in New York City. Among the practice honors, Goodwin was named the Venture Capital Firm of the Year, Hatch-Waxman Litigation Firm of the Year - Generic, and Life Cycle Firm of the Year for the United States.
Goodwin’s Venture Capital practice advises innovators and investors in early and growth stage venture deals and fund formation, while the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation team is among the most experienced in the country at representing both brand and generic companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation. The Life Cycle Firm of the Year award recognizes Goodwin for having an all-encompassing Life Sciences practice capable of meeting the varied needs of clients across the life sciences ecosystem.
Goodwin lawyers were also recognized for excellence and being leaders in their field. Partner Miranda Hooker was named Government Investigations Attorney of the Year. A former federal healthcare fraud prosecutor, she is a member of the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group.
Partner Willy Jay was selected as the Appellate Litigator of the Year – Intellectual Property. Jay is a partner in Goodwin’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation practice and is co-chair of the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution group.
Goodwin partner Elaine Blais was named General Patent Litigator of the Year – New England for the fourth time. Blais serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and is the former head of Goodwin’s Litigation department in Boston.
Associate Elizabeth Mulkey was recognized as a US Rising Star – Regulatory. Mulkey is an associate in Goodwin’s Technology and Life Sciences groups, and a member of the firm’s Life Sciences Regulatory & Compliance practice.
Additionally, Goodwin’s representation of Novo Holdings in its entry into a merger agreement with Catalent was named Impact Deal of the Year. Under the merger agreement, Novo Holdings will acquire Catalent in an all-cash transaction that values Catalent at $16.5 billion on an enterprise value basis.
Now in its twelfth year, the LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards recognize the top-ranking lawyers, firms, and in-house counsel teams in the US and Canada who have had a significant impact on the life sciences industry over the past year.
