A veteran of the inspector general's office at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has joined Goodwin as a partner in its Healthcare and Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practices. Gregory Demske, who joins Goodwin in its Washington, D.C. office, spent more than 30 years with the HHS-OIG. His time there included spending the last decade as the OIG's chief counsel. At the firm, Demske expects to focus on assisting clients with compliance efforts to minimize regulatory risks, counseling them on the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and other laws and working with Goodwin litigators to help clients respond to government investigations. "They've got a huge client base in the life sciences and healthcare areas," Demske said of Goodwin to Law360. "They're growing this practice area, and we've got some really great people. My area of expertise in fraud and abuse compliance and enforcement I think fits very well with the group that's already here."
