Mr. McAlpine’s representative experience includes:
- Tyndaris SAM v MMWWVWM Limited – Acted for the investment vehicle customer in bringing a claim against the manager under an investment management agreement. This case was one of the first times the English courts were asked to consider the question of artificial intelligence in fund management. The case was one of The Lawyer magazine’s top 20 cases of 2020 in the English courts.
- Brown v BCA Trading – Acted for the defendant majority shareholder in successfully defending at trial a claim of unfair prejudice. The case was the first time that the English court granted an order for the use of predictive coding in disclosure on a contested application.
- An individual client – Acted for a client, resident in England, in respect of an application for a witness summons made against them in support of an arbitration seated in and being conducted in a foreign jurisdiction.
- A leading global investment bank – Conducted an internal global regulatory investigation in relation to a client’s FX sales and trading business.
