Rachel Keeney is an associate in Goodwin’s Real Estate Industry group. Her practice involves structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing complex commercial real estate and corporate transactions across the country and across the asset spectrum. Rachel has significant experience representing institutional investors, private equity funds, residential homebuilders, entrepreneurial developers and hospitality and leisure owners and operators in the acquisition, disposition, leasing, development, financing and management of commercial real estate properties.
In addition, Rachel maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in a variety of matters, including lease negotiations, adoptions, immigration proceedings and clemencies.
Experience
Rachel’s experience includes the representation of:
- One of the largest global providers of insurance in the acquisition of a hotel located in Salt Lake City, Utah, which included the negotiation of a hotel management agreement and franchise agreement
- A global private markets firm in the formation of a joint venture and the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of industrial warehouse and office assets located in Virginia
- A nationally recognized real estate investment management company in the disposition of a portfolio of six self-storage facilities located across the United States
- A global real estate investment management advisor in the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of nine industrial properties located in Massachusetts and New Hampshire
- A hospitality owner and operator in the formation of a joint venture and the acquisition of a hotel located in Tarrytown, New York, which included the negotiation of a hotel management agreement and franchise agreement
- A nationally recognized real estate investment management company in the formation of a joint venture to acquire land for development of a multifamily community located in in Denver, Colorado
- A real estate investment firm specializing in private and public market opportunities in the acquisition and financing of a senior housing facility located in Peachtree City, Georgia, which included the negotiation of a property management agreement
- A real estate investment company in the financing of an office building located at 685 Market Street, San Francisco, California
- A real estate and hospitality focused investment platform within the acquisition of a hotel located in Tampa, Florida, which included the negotiation of a hotel management agreement and franchise agreement
- A real estate investment firm with the sale of a multi-family property located in Ashburn, Virginia

Professional Experience
Prior to joining Goodwin, Rachel was an associate in the San Francisco and San Diego offices of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, where her practice focused on commercial real estate transactions, including complex mixed-use projects and residential developments.
While attending law school, Rachel was an Associate Managing Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and a member of the negotiations team.
