Sean Doran is Goodwin’s Pro Bono Managing Attorney. In this role, Sean supports pro bono initiatives throughout the firm’s worldwide offices by coordinating all corporate transactional pro bono programs, including working with legal services providers and serving as a liaison to the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. Sean also provides high-level substantive legal support, supervision and training to corporate lawyers working on pro bono matters for nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations. Sean joined Goodwin in 2013 in the firm’s Boston Office as a member of the firm’s Technology & Life Sciences group. After moving to Washington, DC, he joined the firm’s Private Equity group and was promoted to Counsel in 2020. As a member of Goodwin’s Business Law department, Sean represented technology companies in various financing transactions, mergers & acquisitions and other general corporate matters. He remains actively engaged in the climate tech movement, impact investing movement and frequently advises benefit corporations on formation and other general corporate matters.
Professional Activities
Sean has served as a guest lecturer, on the topics including benefit corporations, Certified B-Corps and other ESG related matters, at Boston University Law School, Georgetown University and the Cambridge Innovation Center. Sean is also a member of the American Bar Association.

Prior to joining Goodwin, Sean was an associate in the Boston office of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP and, previously, an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
