Global law firm Goodwin today announced that finance partner Winfried (“Winni”) Carli will join its Munich office as the firm further strengthens its market-leading Private Equity practice.
“Our expanding private equity client base in Germany requires sophisticated counsel to execute leveraged buyouts and Winni is proven to be one of the very best finance lawyers in the market,” said Dr. Jan Schinköth, chair of Goodwin’s Munich office. “We are delighted he will be joining our fast-growing Munich office as we continue to disrupt the Germany private equity space.“
Dr. Stephan Kock, chair of Goodwin's Frankfurt office, said, “Winni is a significant addition to our Germany platform, which now totals almost 50 lawyers. His experience advising on the financing of some of the most transformative deals in Germany over the past 20 years will be of great benefit to our clients as we partner with them to achieve their business goals.”
Carli’s practice focuses on domestic and cross‐border finance and restructuring matters, with a particular focus on leveraged finance. He represents national and international private equity firms, financial institutions, debt funds and companies on all types of debt transactions. Carli is cited as one of the leading banking and finance lawyers in Germany in the most recent editions of Chambers, JUVE, Legal500 and IFLR1000. He was most recently honored by Handelsblatt, which named him a “Lawyer of the Year 2022”, and by WirtschaftsWoche, which awarded him the “Legal All Star 2021” for Banking & Finance.
Over the past year, Goodwin’s Germany platform has added partners Dr. Anke Johann (Real Estate Finance), Florian Hirschmann and Dr. Jan Schinköth (Private Equity), Dr. Oded Schein (Tax), Dr. Markus Käpplinger (Corporate Real Estate) and Sebastian Bruchwitz (Private Investment Funds).
