Global law firm Goodwin today announced that James Moriarty joined the Private Equity practice as partner, resident in the New York and Santa Monica offices.

Moriarty represents middle-market private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, as well as strategic buyers, in acquisitions and sales, leveraged buyouts, growth equity financings, recapitalizations, joint ventures, and management equity arrangements. His practice spans a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on education technology and financial services. Prior to joining Goodwin, Moriarty served as co-chair of a global law firm’s corporate department. He is recognized as a leading transaction lawyer by Chambers USA and Legal 500 US.
Goodwin’s global Private Equity practice has grown substantially in the last 12 months with the arrival of Edwin Chan in Hong Kong; Jan Schinköth and Oded Schein in Germany; Pavel Shaitanoff in New York; and James Grimwood, Geoff O’Dea, Hugh O’Sullivan, and Dulcie Daly in London. Goodwin now has more than 300 private equity lawyers in the U.S., Europe, and Hong Kong.
