Kevin Smith is a senior associate in the firm’s Business Law department and a member of its Private Equity group.
Kevin’s practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, private equity, growth equity and venture capital transactions, and other corporate matters across a broad range of industries. Kevin advises clients in diverse sectors including software, technology, industrials, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, media, and entertainment. Kevin also advises start-up and later stage companies throughout their corporate life cycle.

Professional Activities
Kevin is a member of the Wake Forest University Alumni Council and serves on the council’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. He is the past president of the Boston chapter of Wake Forest’s alumni club.
Kevin maintains a robust pro bono practice with recent matters including the representation of a major NCAA Division-I college men’s soccer team and the Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston in its merger with Boston TenPoint Coalition. He also actively participates in Goodwin’s Neighborhood Business Initiative, a firm project that provides pro bono legal services entrepreneurs and small businesses in Boston and New York.
Professional Experience
Kevin began his legal career at Goodwin in 2018 and, prior to rejoining the firm in 2022, he was an associate in the Corporate, Finance and Investments group at King & Spalding LLP.
During law school, Kevin was a student attorney in Boston University’s Startup Law Clinic, which counsels MIT and Boston University campus-based entrepreneurs. He also served as an articles editor for the Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law and as co-president of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA).
Prior to attending law school, Kevin received his BA in English and Political Science and competed on the varsity men’s track and field team at Wake Forest University.
