Jonathan Ng

Jon Ng is an associate in the firm’s Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice. He has experience advising technology companies on a wide range of privacy and consumer protection matters, including navigating state/international privacy laws as well as mitigating unfair and deceptive practices. He works with clients on creative solutions to the issues that emerge in the context of product and privacy counseling.

Jon advises clients on various strategic issues related to privacy and consumer protection. His core experiences include:

• Advising clients on the development and deployment of AI powered services, including matters regarding model training and improvement derived from consumer and enterprise customer data
• Counseling clients on compliance with complex privacy and consumer-facing requirements, including CCPA and other state consumer privacy laws, autorenewal laws, the FTC Act, COPPA, and the GDPR
• Strategizing with clients on the communications and policy aspects of tricky product launches or changes that may concern customer privacy
• Helping clients develop mature advertising practices, such as by advising clients on developing and substantiating claims, building claims bibles, and establishing processes for managing Lanham Act claims and competitor assertions of false claims
• Drafting and assisting with the implementation of privacy policies and privacy compliance plans for companies at all stages of the corporate lifecycle
• Conducting due diligence, advising clients on strategic privacy issues. and negotiating transactional documents in corporate transactions

Prior to returning to the firm, Jon spent three years in-house at a leading technology company, where he served as senior product & privacy counsel, advising engineering, product, design, and marketing teams on all matters related to product development, compliance, marketing, and commercialization.
