Goodwin's Northern California litigation team secured another victory for shareholders of Nangate in litigation with Silvaco and its controlling shareholders (Silvaco, Inc. v. Ole Christian Andersen et al). On March 13th, a California state court judge denied Silvaco's motions for judgment notwithstanding verdict and a new trial, including a request for a reduction in punitive damages, after a two-hour oral argument. Nangate Denmark ApS (“Nangate”) was a privately held United States, Silicon Valley–based company dealing in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) for electrical engineering and electronics until its acquisition by Silvaco, Inc. in 2018.
