Daily Journal has named partner Koray Bulut one of California’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers for the fifth consecutive year. The annual list honors lawyers in California who have made significant contributions to labor and employment law through notable wins, career achievements, and thought leadership.
Based in Goodwin’s San Francisco office, Bulut is a partner in the Employment practice and leads the Trade Secrets, Employee Mobility & Non-Competes group. With over two decades of experience, Bulut has litigated cases involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unfair competition, enforcement of non-competes and other restrictive covenants, trade secret misappropriation, wrongful termination, and breach of contract in both state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. He advises employers ranging from start-ups to large public companies, and he provides counsel on all aspects of employment relationships.
Bulut serves on the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco. Bulut previously served as Co-Chair of Pride@Goodwin, which focuses on recruiting, retaining, and advancing LGBTQ+ talent, and creating a supportive environment across the firm.
He has authored articles on challenges presented by business models dependent on independent contractor workers and protection of trade secrets in remote work environments. He has been a featured speaker on California’s PAGA law, federal agency rulemaking regarding non-competes, and political speech in the workplace.
Bulut’s insights have been featured in numerous publications, including Bloomberg Law, San Francisco Daily Journal, and SHRM. He has been named a Top Labor & Employment Lawyer for California by Daily Journal since 2020 and a National Law Journal Employment Law Trailblazer in 2022. He was recognized by Chambers USA from 2020 to 2024 and was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America Best Lawyers for his work in Employment Law in 2022 and 2023.
