Goodwin Continues UK Disputes Growth with Government Investigations & Enforcement Partner Mark Beardsworth

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that partner Mark Beardsworth will join the firm’s global Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in its London office, to lead its European investigations and enforcement practice.

“As we continue to deepen our disputes platform, bringing in a partner with Mark’s reputation and capability within the investigations and enforcement space to spearhead and develop our work in that area further bolsters our comprehensive disputes offering in London,” said Oliver Glynn-Jones, Head of Goodwin’s European Litigation practice. “His ability to operate cross-sector and his considerable multi-jurisdictional experience will help our global client base navigate the regulatory and risk environment wherever they do business. We are delighted he has chosen to join Goodwin.”

Mark conducts internal investigations for corporations, regulators and other business entities across a range of sectors. He regularly advises companies and their directors on risk and governance issues and helps clients to manage and avoid reputational and enforcement risk in a wide range of scenarios. He has also been involved in many of the major prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the Financial Conduct Authority, HM Revenue and Customs, and the Financial Reporting Council. Mark is recognized as a leader in the field of white collar crime and a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 and Chambers. He is also chair of the American Bar Association's International White Collar Crime Committee and an honorary member of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats.

Goodwin first expanded its award-winning Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution platform to the United Kingdom in May 2020 with the addition of partner Oliver Glynn-Jones and has since added a number of lawyers, including antitrust and competition partners Sarah Jordan and Eram Khan, employment partner Alex Fisher and litigation partner Sarah McAtominey.

The practice is highly ranked by leading industry publications including The American Lawyer, Benchmark Litigation, Daily Journal, Chambers, Legal 500, and U.S. News — Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” Most recently, Refinitiv ranked Goodwin in the top five for shareholder activism defense for its representation of public companies during 2022 and once again ranked Goodwin as the number one firm for Global M&A in its H1 2023 league tables.
