Managing IP has named Goodwin partners Naomi Birbach and Alicia Palladino Rising Stars in IP for 2023. This publication recognizes the best up-and-coming intellectual property practitioners in private practice who have made material contributions to the success of their firm and clients.
Birbach is a partner in Goodwin’s IP Litigation group, where she focuses her practice on patent matters across a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, electronic devices, display systems, and software. Possessing significant trial experience, she has represented clients in numerous patent infringement lawsuits in federal courts nationwide, as well as before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in post-grant proceedings such as inter partes reviews (IPRs).
This is Birbach’s third consecutive year being recognized as a Rising Star by Managing IP. She has previously been recognized by The Legal 500 US and The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch for her work in Litigation – Patent.
Palladino is a partner in Goodwin’s Life Sciences group. Having earned her PhD in biomedical science, she uses her experience to prosecute patents globally, in areas including pharmaceutical sciences, nutraceuticals, biologics, dermatological compositions, and cosmetics. Palladino works with companies to increase the value of their assets by advising them with regards to regulatory data, marketing exclusivity, and trade secrets. She also counsels clients on IP strategy and internal IP due diligence, and conducts reviews and audits on behalf of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and medical device companies in preparation for partnering, financing, and public offerings.
Prolific in her activities as a professional and community member, Palladino has held various leadership positions at a myriad of professional organizations. She is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, an organization that promotes research and education for the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of mitochondrial disorders, and is a member of Women in Bio.
