The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) has announced that partner Martin Gomez has been selected to participate in the 2023 Fellows program, and that associate Morgan Monroe will participate in the 2023 Pathfinder program. Gomez, and Monroe were selected for their work ethic, demonstrated leadership skills, engagement within the community, and commitment to building a more open and diverse legal industry.
LCLD Fellows embark on a learning program that includes a combination of virtual and in-person events, training in the fine points of legal practice, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel who host the Fellows for “Learning Experiences" and “Leadership Lunches." The goal is to produce a generation of lawyers with strong leadership and relationship skills who are committed to fostering diversity within their individual institutions and the profession at large.
“I hope to expand on the skills I learned in the Pathfinder program, and to further develop my skills and abilities to be an effective and inclusive law firm leader,” said Gomez about the Fellows program.
The LCLD Pathfinder program is intended for a diverse set of lawyers who have shown high potential for success in the legal profession. This program's objective is to offer useful tools for creating and utilizing internal professional networks through interpersonal relationships, the development of fundamental leadership skills, and knowledge of career development techniques that apply to both in-house and law firm practice.
“My life’s principle has been ‘lifting as we climb,’ which the LCLD Pathfinders program embodies. I am also excited to become closer to my fellow Goodwin LCLD alumni through this process,” said Monroe.
Established in 2009, LCLD now includes more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and managing partners of law firms. LCLD members have committed to fostering a legal profession in the United States that is genuinely diverse, inclusive, and more equitable through programs such as LCLD Pathfinders and Fellows that foster opportunities to train legal leaders, network across the legal industry, and develop strategies that can be utilized to create a more inclusive and equitable practice.
