Goodwin is advising The Trevor Project — the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ youth — as it plans to launch its life-saving crisis services for LGBTQ youth beyond the United States. Roger Cohen, Partner, and Heath Ingram, Associate, will lead Goodwin’s pro bono team.
The Trevor Project recently announced plans to launch its digital crisis services — including TrevorChat and TrevorText — in Mexico by the end of 2022, and potentially in other countries in the future. With Goodwin’s pro bono support, the launch will enable Mexico-based LGBTQ young people to receive 24/7 support and to talk about mental health challenges they may be facing with highly trained counselors in Mexico.
The Trevor Project’s General Counsel, Leigh Checchio, said, “We are thrilled to be able to help LGBTQ young people in Mexico. And The Trevor Project would not be in this position without the continued pro bono support of law firms like Goodwin, who have provided thought partnership and essential research relating to our potential expansion plans. We are so thankful for their help.”
