Goodwin has announced the recipients of its 1L Diversity Fellowship Program. Now in its 16th consecutive year, the innovative program welcomes a talented collection of 10 law students from schools across the country.
“We are excited to announce this year’s class of extraordinarily bright and passionate fellows,” said Emily Rapalino, Goodwin’s National Hiring Partner. “Recruiting and developing talented students and lawyers from underrepresented backgrounds is critical to breaking down diversity barriers in the legal profession. At Goodwin, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to who we are as a firm and how we best serve our clients. We’re proud to further this commitment with another year of our fellowship program.”
Goodwin 1L Diversity Fellowships provide first-year law students from underrepresented backgrounds with awards of $10,000 each to help cover expenses while working in a public interest law position at a nonprofit or government organization during the summer after their first year of law school. In their summer roles, students gain varied experiences involving a wide range of client populations and areas of the law, participate in select Goodwin summer associate events, and get the opportunity to build relationships with Goodwin lawyer-advisors who provide mentorship and guidance throughout the summer and beyond.
Following the completion of Goodwin’s 2020 1L Diversity Fellowship Program, Justin Brogan received this year’s Wayne A. Budd & Marian A. Tse Scholarship. Brogan is a law student at Boston University, where he is a member of OutLaw and the Review of Banking and Financial Law. As a recipient of this scholarship, Brogan has been awarded a position as summer associate at Goodwin in addition to assistance with third-year tuition costs.
