The Pro Bono Institute presented Goodwin the Pickering Award for its commitment to pro bono legal services. Named after the late appellate attorney and public interest law leader John H. Pickering, the annual award recognizes firms that have demonstrated a meaningful and organization-wide commitment to pro bono and public interest law.
Goodwin was honored during the Pro Bono Institute’s “Changing Lives Through Pro Bono” dinner in New York on October 10. Partner and Chairman Emeritus David Hashmall accepted the award and introduced Gary Mendell, Founder of Shatterproof, to share the impact of the firm’s pro bono efforts.
Shatterproof is a Goodwin client and national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation that addiction causes families. Mendell shared the story behind his founding the organization and praised Goodwin for its invaluable assistance through the years, stating that the firm has been “there for me every step along the way.”
