BOSTON, September 27, 2004 — Goodwin Procter LLP today announced the addition of William J. Weiss to the firm’s Tax Practice. He joins the firm as partner in its New York office.
Weiss has broad-based transactional tax experience and has worked on tax issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, issuances of debt and equity, private equity funds, financial products and restructurings of corporations and partnerships.
In addition, he has specific expertise with a wide range of federal income tax rules including provisions relating to spin-offs, reorganizations, consolidated returns, passive foreign investment companies, employee compensation, real estate investment trusts, investment funds and unrelated business taxable income.
Weiss is a valuable addition to Goodwin Procter’s Business Law Department as the firm continues to grow its New York office and expand its corporate and transactional capabilities.
Weiss joins Goodwin Procter from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He received his A.B. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
