Tennessee Attorney General Announces Settlement with Credit Card Transaction Processor

On November 4, 2015, the Tennessee Attorney General announced a settlement with a credit card transaction processor over allegations that the company violated state consumer protection laws by misrepresenting the cancellation policy and duration of its credit card processing equipment leases, as well the compatibility of its equipment. As part of the settlement agreement the company must disclose the primary terms of its offers, accept cancellations of its services, and resolve complaints regarding equipment incompatibility within 21 days. Tennessee citizens affected by these practices may file a claim for a refund with the state. So far, 18 consumers have disputed their lease agreements for a total value of $37,800.
