A growing number of law school students are being recruited ahead of the formal on-campus interview (OCI) process to Am Law 50 firms like Goodwin. Pre-OCI recruitment has become widespread in the last two recruiting cycles, said Ashley Nelson, Managing Director in the Legal Recruitment department. More than half of the firm’s 2023 summer class were hired via pre-recruiting, and firm leaders expect a similar rate next summer, Nelson said to Law.com. “At Goodwin, we are committed to recruiting top talent, including pre-recruiting if necessary,” Nelson added. “However, I believe current practices are inefficient and not always effective.”
